Kanza Coop is looking for a Grain Elevator Operator in Strafford, KS to provide exceptional customer service; assists with receiving, storing, and shipping of grain; cleaning trucks; and maintenance of the grain elevator as qualified including operating scale, and assisting with other operations and maintenance duties as needed.
As a Grain Elevator Operator, primary responsibilities include:
- Loads and unloads trucks
- Cleans trucks
- Dumps grain and/or loads railcars or trucks, cleans up grain spills
- Inspects grain for insects, moisture, and foreign material while unloading grain trucks
- Responsible for maintaining clean facilities, and complying with all state and federal regulations pertaining to a safe workplace, housekeeping, and all activities that require regulation compliance
- Performs or directs routine maintenance and repair on all elevator equipment
- Assists customers in loading purchases
- Actively promotes use of cooperative’s grain facilities to customers
- Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responds promptly to customer needs, resolves questions, complaints and concerns immediately and meets commitments
A successful Grain Elevator Operator must be a least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, and enjoy serving people and building relationships within the Kanza team and our community of patrons.
PHYSICAL/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
May frequently need to climb ladders (may range from 20’ to 180’) and stairs.
Frequently exposed to grain dust, moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration.
